Camp Shout Out 2018 had over 120 participants from all over the world who came together to build a community to support young people who stutter.
Every day the campers challenged themselves to evolve as communicators. They volunteered to read announcements, talk over the loud speaker and deliver messages. They practiced talking on the phone, ordering from a menu, introducing themselves and telling jokes to friends.
Each camper worked hard and took part in multiple daily positive communication interactions as well as traditional summer camp activities. Parents reported their children came home from camp full of confidence and willingness to speak more at home and at school.
The speech-language pathologists and graduate students participated in state-of-the-art training provided by Kristin Chmela M.A. CCC-SLP, BCS-F and her team of well known fluency experts. These workshop participants learned about working with kids who stutter in this 'magical environment.
Camp Shout Out is Building Communicators for Life!
Thank YOU for helping young people who stutter!
