Thank you so much for your generous donation to Camp Horizon. Every dollar helps fulfill our mission as we work to restore dignity and hope to children, teens, and young adults in foster care who have been abused and neglected – empowering them to make good decisions and lead healthy, productive lives.
In the month of October, we put our mission into action during our Leadership Development Program (LDP). LDP is a weekend of programming for our teen campers where we focus on leadership skills, building strong relationships, and planning for the future while continuing our emphasis on Camp Horizon’s 3 R’s: Respect, Responsibility, and Resilience. Campers enjoy the activities, but the highlight of the weekend is always reuniting with friends and counselors they grew to know over the years at summer camp.
As December nears, we prepare for the festivities of the holiday season. In the fall, we ask our campers to provide a wish list of what they would like to receive for the holidays. Through donations and an amazing sponsor, we are able to provide our campers with both practical items such as clothing and supplies for school, as well as something of off their wish list. Once items are collected, we host our annual wrapping party. Here our teenagers wrap gifts for the younger children, while volunteers wrap for the teenagers. One week later, the entire Camp Horizon family comes together for a holiday celebration. Rumor has it Santa is even making an appearance to deliver the gifts this year!
As always, we thank you for supporting Camp Horizon. Through your donation, you provide a lasting impact in the lives of children who are often too easily forgotten, marginalized, and under-resourced.
Sincerely,
The Camp Horizon Team
