Your support helps promote global outreach!

By Diane Royal and Kathryn Stewart | Project Coordinators

Your generous donations to CAMI support the safe development and eventual use of Multipurpose Prevention Technologies (MPTs).

In the past few months, your donations have greatly enhanced our strategic outreach efforts helping to further the field of MPTs. Through your generous support, production and printing costs were covered for Global Reproductive Health Diaries – an outreach booklet that illustrates the challenges faced by real women in meeting their reproductive health needs.  Global Reproductive Health Diaries mobilized further awareness around the importance for MPTs through the development and distribution of Global Reproductive Health Diaries on CAMI's website, AIDS2012 and the California Wellness Foundation Conference on Women’s Health.

In late July, CAMI participated in AIDS2012, the 19th International AIDS Conference held in Washington D.C.  This conference assembled the world’s leaders in the field of HIV research, policymaking and patient care as well as those living with HIV/AIDS in order to discuss the field’s future direction. CAMI’s participation promoted education and awareness concerning the development of MPTs – products essential in the fight to end AIDS. CAMI will use lessons learned from this international conference to better inform our work generously funded through Global Giving.

Here are a few additional examples of what we have been able to accomplish:

  • CAMI staff travel and registration costs were covered, facilitating participation in AIDS2012, the International AIDS Conference;
  • Materials were printed and distributed at the AIDS 2012 conference, playing a key role in engaging an international audience of potential stakeholders;
  • CAMI, in partnership with Claire Brindis of UCSF, presented at the California Wellness Foundation. The aim was to address the integration of family planning and STI/HIV prevention, particularly for U.S. youth.

As CAMI moves forward, your continued support allows us to attend conferences, give presentations, convene working groups and distribute outreach materials. Activities that help engage researchers, donors, caregivers, policymakers and individuals on a global level about the potential for MPTs. There is still a long road ahead, but we are confident that with continued support like yours, we will reach our goal!
