Our plan is simple: educate and equip to slow the spread. The C2C Collaborative: COVID-19 Response will secure emergency response items and provide funds for our two Peasant Associations to purchase items on the ground. These items will be used to create 1,000 response packets as part of our Continuous Care Initiative.
COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by a coronavirus that was first detected in Wuhan, China (CDC). Since December 2019, it has spread globally, resulting in an ongoing pandemic. With its already fragile health care infrastructure, Haiti in general and our Partner Communities in Petit Goave specifically, face even greater medical, spacial and economic challenges to responding effectively to the pandemic.
We will financially support our Partner Communities as they create COVID-19 response packets developed to prevent the spread. Each packet includes gloves, masks and soap for 1,000 people. We provided our medical team on the ground with COVID-19 presentation materials and flyers to hold a socially distanced training for our two Peasant Associations to be able to educate their communities on COVID-19 preventive measures.
This Collaborative Response will position our Partner Communities to exercise greater responsibility over their communities' health outcomes. Adapting and adjusting our focus to address COVID-19 will allow our Partner Communities to continue on the road to self-sufficiency. For over 1,000 families, this effort is critical to their pursuit of economic development and educational opportunities for their children.
