Dear supporters,
Your generous donations have already helped Globemed and Set Her Free deliver about 100 reusable sanitary pad kits to girls at the Glory of Christ Primary School! 100 girls can use these pads to help them stay in school. Their periods no longer have to be an impediment to their school attendance and success.
Since our last report, you may have noticed that the price of the pad kits has been raised from 10 dollars to 15 dollars. This change reflects the addition of underwear and soap to the pad kits. Upon our teams preliminary visit to Glory of Christ, we realized that the majority of the girls did not own underwear. The addition of soap and underwear in the pad kits will enhance the positive impact of the pads on the girls' lives.
Moving forward, GlobeMed and Set Her Free plans to expand the pad program to other schools within the Rakai District. We hope to provide training to female staff at the schools, so they can mentor the young girls recieving the benefits of the pad program. Additionally, we are in the process of determining the cost of creating a tailoring center. A tailoring center would help give the pad program longterm sustainability and act as a hub for the pad creation. Set Her Free also provides tailoring training to girls living in the slums of Kampala. The addition of the tailoring center could enhance the training and provide employment for these girls in Kampala.
By the end of the year, our team plans on having an estimate for the tailoring center and will update our donation page to reflect these changes. Until then, please continue your generous support. The provision of resuable sanitary pads has the potential to change so many more girls' lives.
Thank You!
