GWU GROW interns had our first meeting with our new partner organization, Set Her Free (SHF). We met some of the girls that SHF sponsors at Trinity Senior Academy during their visitation day. The attached photo shows SHF president Robin and founder Robinah with the girls. The girls were very enthusastic to tell our team about their challenging (but rewarding) course schedule which can last until 10pm.
Our intern team also sat down with the SHF staff to discuss our implementation plan for the reusable sanitary pad project. The girls have already sewed their first sets of pads. By the end of July, the intern team along with SHF hopes to have created a system to evaluate the effectiveness and outreach of the project and to have begun distributing the pads to local schools.
