Bursary Program: 40 deaf children will receive full academic, therapeutic, and technological support, enabling them to thrive alongside their hearing peers. Eduplex also provides Intensive Parent Guidance & Auditory-Verbal Therapy (AVT) to support parents in developing their child's listening and spoken language skills. Eduplex is seeking bursaries for the duration of the child's education of the school which is normally 15 years. Our bursary learners enroll from age 3 through to 18.
The deaf community in South Africa faces many challenges, including lack of access to education, communication barriers, lack of support, and discrimination and stigma. Lack of access to education is one of the biggest challenges faced by the deaf community in South Africa. Many deaf children do not have the opportunity to attend mainstream schools and are often placed in special schools that are not equipped. This lack of access to education can have severe long-term impacts.
Eduplex has become a model for inclusive education internationally Our success is built on a program that develops deaf children's listening and spoken language skills. In Eduplex three to four deaf children in every class learn alongside their normally hearing friends - without the use of sign language. Eduplex has delivered measurable, life-changing results, creating a proven model for inclusive education.
The Eduplex Bursary Program provides inclusive, high-quality education for deaf learners from disadvantaged backgrounds. Supporting Eduplex bursary learners enables international donors to make a direct and lasting impact. For over two decades, Eduplex has expanded its reach and influence. Our alumni are pioneers, amongst others, South Africa's first deaf medical student. We have empowered over 300 families with tools, therapy, and guidance needed to support their children's.
