A new life for Francisco and his family

Before the help of the GOD´S CHILD Project Francisco never could have dreamed of better living conditions for his family. Like many Guatemalans, Francisco was unable to go to school when he was younger because his parents couldn't afford it. Because of his lack of education the only work he can find is as a day-laborer which is an unstable job and makes very little money. With the little money that he makes Francisco has struggled to support his wife and three children with the very basics. In their village of Parramos people believe that girls should learn to be wives and mothers and have no need to go to school. Because of this Lucía, Francisco's wife, also lacks the education necessary to find a decent paying job and stays home to take care of their 3 children.

When the GOD'S CHILD Project visited the family they were living in poor conditions in house made of wood and old sheets of metal with a dirt floor. The house did not protect the family from the elements especially during the cold and rainy season and the children would often get sick. The GOD'S CHILD Project decided to help the family with a new home because it was clear that there was no way that Francisco could afford to improve his family's living conditions on his own. In March of this year a team of volunteers helped build a new, safe, and healthy home for Francisco and his family. Francisco can now rest easy knowing that his family will stay dry this rainy season and can use any savings he has to invest in his children's education so that they can have more job opportunities when they grow up.

Thanks to the support of our volunteers and donors the GOD'S CHILD Project was able to provide a new home and a brighter future to Francisco and his family. Please consider sharing Francisco's story so that we can continue to help other families like his.
