A WARM WELCOME

The man is originally from Huehuetenango, is 69 years old, had two children who died in criminal acts and his wife died of a disease many years ago.

Due to these circumstances, the man decided that he no longer had any reason to continue fighting for life, suffering from severe depression and adopting the vice of alcohol. This problem caused him the loss of all his material goods, he decided to sell everything he had and spent it into intoxicating drinks.

When he had finally lost everything, he slept on the street, without work, family, or a home to be in; He spent many years of his life in these circumstances, until at a certain time, a person had told him that there was a shelter that gave people inn at night and gave them food and blankets so they do not sleep on the street.

After a time that he was spending nights sleeping in the Shelter, he received talks from the staff of ANA, so that he could raise his self-esteem and could somehow leave the vice of alcohol. Due to the seriousness of the vice in him, some days he was sober and was caring bags at the market to earn some money.

Juan currently continues to receive verbal therapies and in some cases the psychology department helps him in topics such as his self-esteem as the problem of alcoholism, and he has been referred to a program outside Asociación Nuestros Ahijados that is AA (Alcoholics Anonymous). He has also been provided with clothes and shoes since his clothes are often in poor condition.
