Building Forward - Hurricane Recovery in USVI

During the last quarter, we have funded 4 new projects, bringing the total number of funded projects to 7! By the next interim reporting period, we will have interim results to share. 

• We Grow Food (St. Thomas) will be operating a native fruit tree restoration distribution project with local farmers, in partnership with Virgin Islands Department of Agriculture (DOA) and University of the Virgin Islands Cooperative Extension Services (UVI-CES).
• Friends of the Virgin Islands National Park (St. John) will be restoring native plants and trees in the National Park grounds, while managing non-native plants/trees, and offering the St. John community seedlings and information on the value of planting native plants and trees.
• Island Green Living Association (St. John) will be launching a commercial composting project that will gather remaining hurricane vegitative debris and make it available for personal and commercial use.
• St. George Village Botanical Garden (St. Croix) will be operating a native tree restoration project, including developing a team of Seed Stewards - university students and individuals who are committed to reestablishing the urban tree canopy and sharing seed diversity.
