Thanks for your donation to our Manzanillo High School project.
We continue to make excellent progress on the high school project. All 6 classrooms and the 2 administrative offices are fully constructed. Tiled floors, doors and windows have been installed and about half of the classrooms are painted. The septic tank is 50% complete and the washrooms are about 30% complete.
Over the next month we will be finishing the painting, building the outdoor study area, converting the construction bodega into a library/computer lab and finishing the washrooms. The libray will feature a few hundred texts and other educational books and 6 computers.
We recently ordered 230 student desks and 14 teacher desks. These will all be delivered in mid-January. The school opens in early February and Inaugaration is scheduled for January 29th.
The next six months will see the addition of a rain water catchment system complete with a large cistern for water storage and the implementation of a school farming project. We will also be installing walking paths and working on other finishing details.
As of December 10th, 2013, total expenses incurred on the project were $87,166,14 out of a budgeted $125,000. $6479.88 of the Global Giving funds have been spent leaving a balance of $7.88. The funds were spent as follows:
Materials - $4,617.38
Labour - $1562.60
Site Security - $300
We remain about $690 shy of our GlobalGiving goal of $7500 and approximately $22,000 shy of the budgeted $125,000.
