Thanks for your donation to our Manzanillo High School project.
We have made some stellar progress the past few months. All 6 classrooms plus the 2 administration offices are structurally built with roofs installed. Windows are installed in 5 of the classrooms and we have recently begun installing doors. We brought out 500 square meters of tile last week, which shall be installed over the next few weeks.
We also built a Greenhouse facility on the property and have begun planting seedlings for distribution into community homes. The greenhouse will be part of the agricultural technical courses that will be offered.
Power was successfully installed in mid-July.
Over the next 3 months we will be installing the fencing and the composting toilets, while continuing to paint and prepare the classrooms. We are currently are seeking out suppliers of student desks and furnishings.
School opens in 4 months so there is no time to waste!
As of August 1st, 2013, total expenses incurred on the project were $47,802.02 out of a budgeted $125,000. $5566.75 of the Global Giving funds were spent during the month of July leaving a balance of $769.95. The funds were spent as follows:
Materials - $3704.25
Labour - $1562.60
Site Security - $300
We remain about $700 shy of our GlobalGiving goal of $7500 and approximately $25,000 shy of the budgeted $125,000.
Project reports on GlobalGiving are posted directly to globalgiving.org by Project Leaders as they are completed, generally every 3-4 months. To protect the integrity of these documents, GlobalGiving does not alter them; therefore you may find some language or formatting issues.
