Thanks for your donation to our Manzanillo High School project. We are continuing to work away on the site. The walls have been installed for the first 6 classrooms and 3 of these have had their outer walkways and floors poured. We have just started excavating for 2 additional classrooms. These will be used initially as a Teacher's Office and an Administration Office but will be built to allow for a future conversion to classrooms if the student demand requires the additional space.
The library/computer room is roughly completed and is being used as a construction bodega for now to store materials.
We are breaking ground on a greenhouse early next week which will be used as part of the high school's organic agriculture training program.
Power is being installed over the next two weeks and once installed we will be installing the doors, windows and roofs into the classrooms. The next steps will be painting and tiling the classroom and we are also currently accepting budgets for the fencing. There is still plenty of work to do but we are ahead of schedule for the February opening.
As of May 31st, 2013, total expenses incurred on the project were $36,424 out of a budgeted $125,000. Zero funds have been used from the GlobalGiving donations but we will begin utilizing these funds on July 1st. These funds will be applied to the construction of the classrooms and this will be reflected in the next quarterly report.. We remain about $700 shy of our GlobalGiving goal of $7500 and approximately $25,000 shy of the budgeted $125,000.
