In Cameroon, where over 75% of arable land suffers from severe degradation, rural youth and women bear the brunt of climate uncertainty and economic hardship. On Saturday, September 12, 2026, we took a giant step toward changing that reality.
Thirteen women and community leaders gathered at our Kamba Eco-Learning Hub in Mfou, holding heavy hoes and fresh cassava cuttings to mark the official launch of Cohort 4 under our Soil to Software initiative. Joined by 12 additional participants onboarding this week, this group of 25 household leaders—72% women and 80% Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) affected by regional conflict—is taking direct ownership of restoring 10 hectares of depleted land.
On Day One, under the guidance of our production team, participants conducted site walkthroughs, cleared plots, applied organic mulch, and harvested cassava. Over the coming months, these scholars will combine hands-on agroforestry with digital tools to track soil regeneration, crop yields, and farm economics.
Every seed planted and every soil bed prepared builds directly toward our overarching vision for Project #73473: establishing a permanent, climate-resilient Ecological Learning Centre. By pairing hands-on agroecology with durable physical infrastructure, we are ensuring that marginalised youth do not just learn how to restore topsoil—they build self-sustaining cooperative businesses and green livelihoods that last.
