MODReading is now officially an independent nonprofit. Previously, we were operating under the umbrella of City Learners, Inc. We are so thankful for their support in helping to launch our organization, to GlobalGiving for this fundraising platform, and of course, to our wonderful donors who believed in us from the very beginning. We are closing down this project on GlobalGiving, but our work on this project will not stop there.
We will continue to seek new partnerships and to refine the training and implementation model with our current partners. These early partnerships help us make sure the model will adapt to local needs. We were recently contacted by a library media specialist on the East Coast who works with public school librarians. She has offered to help us reach out them to see how we can work together to build a model that would fit within a public school library system.
In the past few months, we have begun working with a few families in San Francisco who would not otherwise have access to quality literacy services. They are helping us to identify volunteers and community spaces that will host us once we are able to meet in person. This community level of support will bring more awareness to our approach within the school district and ideally create a long term partnership within the district as well.
