Summary

In Romania, over 500 refugee children with disabilities-fleeing the horrors of war and displacement-struggle with autism, ADHD, speech delays, learning disabilities (dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia), and motor impairments. While JRS Romania has built a therapy center in Bucharest, we can only support 10% of them. Your help is urgently needed to expand our reach and provide life-changing therapies to every child in need. Together, we can transform their future!

Challenge

Refugee children with disabilities in Romania endure the trauma of displacement along with challenges like autism, ADHD, motor impairments, and difficulties in learning, socializing, and integrating. Many have never received therapy or had to stop due to war. Local services are overwhelmed and lack co-national therapists who can offer culturally and linguistically appropriate care, making it hard for these children to access the consistent, specialized support they urgently need.

Solution

JRS Romania will provide refugee children with access to specialized therapies-speech, motor, occupational, behavioral, and social-at its dedicated therapy center in Bucharest, delivered by co-national therapists to enhance effectiveness. With your support, we will fund therapy sessions, purchase essential equipment, and expand services to reach more children. Our multidisciplinary team will work closely with families and educators to ensure support for most vulnerable children.

Long-Term Impact

By providing specialized therapies, refugee children with disabilities will improve their motor skills, communication, and emotional well-being, reducing school dropouts, marginalization, and the risk of bullying. Families of children with disabilities will gain tools to support development at home as well. In time, we will replicate this model in other Romanian cities, creating a national, inclusive care system that ensures dignity, safety, and opportunity for every child with disabilities.
