Welcome to our first project report on building flood defenses in the Philippines!
Your generosity has gotten us off to a great start here in the Philippines. We’ve begun in earnest reviewing designs for different types of reinforcements, meeting with community members to find the best starting place, and understanding how best to ensure our flood defenses have the maximum impact.
This project will be a marathon, not a sprint. We need to come up with creative solutions for getting materials to informal settlers on riverbanks without roads, on redirecting the river while we build, and, of course, raise the remaining funds we need! But we’re ready to take on those challenges. With the support of GlobalGiving’s donor community and the determination of the residents of Banaba, we’ll get there!
As the project grows we’ll send you regular project reports on how our flood defenses are progressing. If you ever have any questions in the meantime about how we’re using your donations don’t hesitate to email Emma@EDVolunteers.org. We’d be happy to answer any queries you might have!
Project reports on GlobalGiving are posted directly to globalgiving.org by Project Leaders as they are completed, generally every 3-4 months. To protect the integrity of these documents, GlobalGiving does not alter them; therefore you may find some language or formatting issues.
If you donate to this project or have donated to this project, you can receive an email when this project posts a report. You can also subscribe for reports without donating.
