We have very exciting news reaching us from the Mary John Primary School in Leer, Southern Sudan! The construction work on the block of 5 classrooms has now been completed. All that is left to be done is to fully equip the classrooms with desks & benches.
The 5 classrooms are in two separate blocks, one with 3 classrooms and the other with 2. The construction work was carried out by our local NGO partner Assistance Mission for Africa (AMA) who specialize in construction work in and around Leer. The classrooms were built to the standard Government of Southern Sudan specifications.
As mentioned above, the project is not yet complete as we have to finish equipping the inside of the classrooms with the desks & benches needed for all 5 classrooms. The materials for this job have been shipped by boat from Juba to the school and a local carpenter is currently working with the Mary John school's PTA to finish putting them together and get them in place. We are hopeful that this will be completed in the next week and as of then the project will be considered complete.
Many thanks for all your support!
