Building a Future for 600 Children in South Kivu

By PASCAL NIYONZIMA | CORDINATOR

1. Background and Rationale

In South Kivu Province, access to dignified education remains a major challenge for many children. At Nyandja Primary School, more than 600 pupils are forced to study in extremely poor conditions. Due to the lack of classrooms, children learn outdoors, exposed to harsh sun, rain, and insecurity. The absence of latrines, desks, and teaching materials seriously affects their health, motivation, and academic performance.

These conditions lead to frequent illness, school dropouts, and the loss of future opportunities for an already vulnerable generation living in poverty.

2. Project Objective

The main objective of this project is to provide 600 children with a safe, healthy, and appropriate learning environment, thereby strengthening access to quality and sustainable education.

3. Beneficiaries

  • 600 pupils of Nyandja Primary School (girls and boys)
  • Teachers, who will benefit from improved working conditions
  • The local community, through better education and health outcomes
  • Construction of 6 safe and durable classrooms
  • Construction of 4 hygienic school latrines
  • Provision of desks, benches, and essential learning materials
  • Supply of basic teaching and learning tools for teachers
  • Immediate improvement in learning conditions
  • Reduction in hygiene-related diseases
  • Decrease in school dropout rates
  • Improved quality of teaching and learning
  • Restoration of dignity, safety, and hope for children
