Building Bridges Through Social Dialogue in DRC

By AHADI | CORDINATOR

The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has faced decades of overlapping political, social, economic, and security challenges. At the heart of many of these crises is a deep erosion of trust between citizens, public institutions, workers, and communities. Social tensions, including disputes over identity and belonging, are often intensified by political narratives, making constructive dialogue more difficult. Our project, “Build Bridges Through Social Dialogue in DRC,” seeks to transform this distrust into opportunities for cooperation, participation, and peaceful problem-solving.

We are currently in the preparation and resource-mobilization phase of the project. Our team is identifying qualified trainers and potential learners who will participate in activities designed to strengthen dialogue, civic participation, conflict prevention, and collaborative governance. The project will also promote meaningful participation of women and young people, not simply as participants, but as voices capable of influencing decisions that affect their communities and the future of the country. A key component will be strengthening neutral civil society organizations as trusted “custodians of dialogue,” helping monitor commitments emerging from consultations and encouraging stakeholders to move from dialogue to concrete action.

The project has an overall funding target of $100,000. To date, we have mobilized $90 through our collaboration with GlobalGiving, an important first step toward reaching the resources needed to implement the project at scale. Every contribution brings us closer to creating spaces where citizens, workers, authorities, women, and young people can listen to one another and work toward practical solutions. We sincerely thank GlobalGiving and every donor who has already supported this vision. We now invite individuals, foundations, organizations, and partners around the world to join us. With continued support, we can move from preparation to implementation and help build a DRC where dialogue is not a response to crisis, but a lasting foundation for peace, inclusion, and good governance.
