Hello our dear supporters,
Thank you for your support to our project.
We are still fundraising to construct a toilet block for our children. Toilets are very important facilities in institutions and particularly where there are children or students. They promote good health by allowing people to dispose of their waste appropriately, preventing contamination of their environment and reducing risk to themselves and their neighbors.
Toilets are an essential facility for maintaining good sanitation and hygiene for humans. The lack of good sanitation can cause various types of sickness and diseases, especially diarrhoea in the youngest and most vulnerable sector of the population. Sanitation systems aim to protect health by providing and promoting a clean environment.
Developing countries in particular face challenges in accessing sanitation and hygiene care. Throughout the world, many people do not have access to sanitation facilities, resulting in improper waste disposal.
Absence of basic sanitation facilities can result in an unhealthy environment contaminated by human waste and contribute to the spread of many diseases/conditions that can cause widespread illness and death.
According to the World Health Organization and UNICEF, nearly one third of schools around the world still lack basic water, sanitation, and hygiene services. The construction of the toilet block will enable our school children, especially menstruating girls, to further their education by remaining in school.
Thank you,
Lemic Ngalla,
Project Director.
