Dear Generous Partner,

Greetings from Gaba Hope for Kids.

Many children come to learn on an empty stomach.

Some have not eaten since yesterday. Some walk long distances to come to our learning sessions. When a child is hungry, it is hard to read, to write, or to concentrate. Some fall asleep in class. Some stop coming.

That is why our feeding program continues.

What We Do:

Every learning day, we try our best to provide a simple meal - porridge, rice, beans, or whatever we have. It may look small, but to a child, it means a lot.

Why It Matters:

- A fed child concentrates better in class
- A fed child stays longer to learn and play
- A fed child comes back the next day
- A fed child feels loved and cared for
- For some children, this is the only meal they have in a day

What We Have Seen:

- Attendance has improved on feeding days
- Children are more active and happy to learn
- Girls and boys help each other to serve and clean
- Parents are more willing to send their children to learn

Our Challenge:

- Food prices are high
- We have more than 300 children and the number keeps growing
- We do not have enough cooking pots, plates, and cups
- We sometimes lack firewood and clean water

How You Can Help Us Continue:

- Support with food items - rice, beans, maize flour, sugar, cooking oil

- Support with volunteering to cook and serve
- Share our feeding program with friends

A simple plate of food is keeping a child in school.
