Thanks to your support and generosity, we have been able to make grants recently to many charities doing important and difficult work in Israel and Palestine.
In this message you can read about the recent project by the Schoolhouse, an education project for refugees and asylum-seekers in South Tel Aviv, that was funded by BSST.
The Schoolhouse recently finished its first semester and 100 students recieved certificates at the end of June, the majority being English language students. They will run a new semester from September to December. They ran 6 English courses this semester; over 10% of those registered were women, which is was higher than expected.
The courses run from basic beginners until pre-academic level and thanks to your grant, the Schoolhouse was able to advance in creating a more adapted and sustainable curriculum with more continuity through the levels, continue research on relevant books and materials, upgrade their curriculum preparation process, pioneer a new one-to-one reading enrichment program, and evaluate student learning students through assessment and feedback.
You can watch a great video about The Schoolhouse's excellent work here.
We can only fund projects like this thanks to your support. Organisations like the Schoolhouse are working in challenging and volatile conditions and our support means a lot to them. Our core funding campaign remains open: if you are able to share it, or make a further donation, be assured that your support is going directly to grassroots projects that really make a difference.
Project reports on GlobalGiving are posted directly to globalgiving.org by Project Leaders as they are completed, generally every 3-4 months. To protect the integrity of these documents, GlobalGiving does not alter them; therefore you may find some language or formatting issues.
If you donate to this project or have donated to this project, you can receive an email when this project posts a report. You can also subscribe for reports without donating.
