One of the group we fund is The Schoolhouse, which provides education in south Tel Aviv for refugees and asylum seekers. BSST's funding provided for the recent expansion of the Schoolhouse's English Language Pedagogical Coordinator, who's reponsible for the pedagogical development of the English programme.
In 2017, 250 students received their certificate from the Schoolhouse, most of them in the English programme, a rise of 50%, thanks to this new position. The Schoolhouse has also been able to develop a new programme for 2018, a GED programme equivalent to the high school certificate. Students comment very favourably on the teaching; at the Schoolhouse's final certificate ceremony, one class had each student get up and say what they dream to be in a few, and the most common answer was "teacher"!
