By Stephanie J. Hull | President & CEO
Girls Inc. has been changing the lives of girls for over 150 years, and I am honored to have been chosen to continue this legacy as I join the organization this month.
This new role weaves together many threads of my previous experience. I have devoted much of my career to advancing and supporting girls and young women, as well as ensuring access to excellence in high-need communities. From serving as a faculty member and administrator at women’s colleges (Wellesley and Mount Holyoke) to leading the Brearley School to addressing the challenges of STEM learning in high-need schools at the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation, I have been committed to opportunity and achievement for young people, and especially young women. Now I am delighted to share my enthusiasm for this work with Girls Inc., on behalf of our strong, smart, and bold girls.
As I begin my journey with Girls Inc., I am very pleased to announce to you another new leadership appointment: Tony Bucci, a valued member of our National Board of Directors since 2008 and previous Vice-Chair, will be stepping into the role of Board Chair. Tony is Chairman and CEO of MARC USA, one of the nation’s largest privately held marketing communications companies. Tony has often brought the talents and resources of his agency and his personal enthusiasm to our collateral, from the “With You In Her Corner” campaign to our newly designed, mobile-friendly, website. Widely recognized for his high-level thinking, strategic marketing expertise, and philanthropic efforts, Tony was a natural choice to lead Girls Inc.’s Board, and I am so pleased that he has agreed to take on this key position. I look forward to our work together.
I would also like to thank Judy Vredenburgh for all of her advice and support as I step into this important new role. All of us at Girls Inc. are tremendously grateful for her transformative leadership, which has created a solid foundation for our future plans and goals.
It is a privilege and a pleasure to be leading an organization that I have admired for many years. I will continue with pride the Girls Inc. traditions of transformational programming for the girls who need us most, and transparency and accountability to you, our important investors. Thank you for helping Girls Inc. make certain that all girls have the opportunity to grow up healthy, educated, and independent.
With all best wishes,
Stephanie J. Hull, Ph.D.
