Girls Inc. Update: Your Investment at Work

By Judy Vredenburgh | President & CEO

At Girls Inc., we hold ourselves to the same high standards and expectations that we hold our girls to. Accountability is important to us; we respect your trust in the transformational Girls Inc. Experience as a solution to the obstacles girls face, and want to make sure that your gifts are making the impact that you intended. Enclosed is a one-page overview of our newly released 2017 Strong, Smart, and Bold Outcomes Survey: we are proud of what we achieved together, for girls and their futures, and wanted to share our research that demonstrates the active difference you’re making.

STRONG. From the importance of proper nutrition, to the benefits of exercise, as well as expansive healthy sexuality education focused on accurate and inclusive information, Girls Inc. programming inspires girls to understand their bodies. Girls Inc. teens are abstaining from risky behaviors, like substance abuse and unprotected sex. With access to high-quality mentoring relationships, Girls Inc. is helping girls resist peer pressure and encourages each girl to be an advocate for their mental, emotional, and physical well-being.

SMART. Graduation is a critical component of future success; girls who do not complete high school are more likely to perpetuate negative cycles by having lower paying jobs, poorer health, and additionally, being more likely to be involved with the criminal justice system. Girls Inc. girls are committed and invested in their education, building on it daily, through Girls Inc. research-based programming and initiatives designed to instill a love of learning, cultivate new skills, and discover future careers.

BOLD. Girls Inc. girls are demonstrably confident and determined to succeed. Not only are they excited and motivated by their own success and achievements, they are civically minded leaders of tomorrow, understanding their responsibility to solve problems within their communities and use their knowledge in real-life, workable, solutions.

GRATITUDE. Your investment in Girls Inc. is sparking life-changing outcomes for girls, their families, and their communities. Thank you for your belief in the inherent potential of girls, and in our ability to cultivate these natural abilities into tangible results. We celebrate the achievements of girls often, and now it’s our privilege to celebrate you: for the month of November, we’re kicking off 30 Days of Gratitude focused on our loyal investors. You are a crucial part of the  Girls Inc. process, partnering with us to ensure that the complex needs of today’s girls are not only met, but exceeded. We couldn't do this important work without you!
