How do you describe a cheeta?

By Lois Werner | President, People for Guatemala

How do you describe a cheeta running across the plain or a whale on a spy hop to someone who has never seen a cheeta or a whale?    In the U.S. almost every child has technology at their fingertips.  Have a question?  Google It!  But here in Guatemala,.in the rural schools, the kids have never seen a computer, much less use one.  They have no reference outside of their remote village.

In the 10 elementary schools where we installed the computers during the 2013 school year the teachers report the students are eager to attend the computer classes and the students are learning quickly how to navigate the computers.

One more school will receive computers this month.  The parents' committees at Candelaria have been working to prepare the computer classrooms.  This involves installing electricity and painting the room.  The teachers and older students are working along side the parents to ready the room.

Our Education Technology Project is changing the way kids can see the world.  We install between 10 and 16 computers per school depending on the number of students in the school.  That means for $400 you can provide 1 computer or for $4,000 you can provide 10 computers and 150 kids will benefit for the next several years.  We install the computers as we receive donations.
