Bringing Hope and Healing to War-Affected Orphans

As of September 2026, Save Ukraine has rescued 1,730 children and young people from Russia and temporarily occupied territories. Among them are 287 orphans and children deprived of parental care. In 2026 alone, we have brought 589 children and young people to safety. But for Save Ukraine, rescue does not end when a child reaches safety. For many, that moment marks the beginning of another difficult journey — recovery and learning how to build an independent life.

For teenagers and young people rescued from Russia and temporarily occupied territories who do not have parental support, Save Ukraine has created a Social Dormitory. Today, 42 teenagers and young people live there. For them, it is much more than a roof over their heads. It is a safe environment where they can recover from what they have experienced, continue their education, and gradually prepare for independent adulthood.

The Save Ukraine team supports each young person according to their individual needs. We help them continue their education, support those who have completed their studies in finding employment, assist with documents and everyday challenges, and help them develop the practical skills needed to live independently. Psychologists and social workers remain by their side, helping them cope with their experiences and gradually make plans for the future.

And our support does not end when a young person leaves the Social Dormitory. When they move away to study, find a job, or begin building a life of their own, Save Ukraine continues to support them from a distance. We provide essential support packages, while our psychologists and social workers stay in touch, offer ongoing consultations, and help them navigate challenges as they take their first independent steps.

For a young person who has lived through occupation, separation from loved ones, and a return to Ukraine without parental support, having a safe place to live, an opportunity to continue their education, help finding a first job, and people they know they can turn to can change the course of their future. This is why our work does not stop at rescue. We stay alongside these young people until they are ready to take their next steps on their own.
