Ahmed's Story: A Dream That Refuses To Fade

By MUHAMMED DEEBEH | Project leader

Dear Donor,

Among the many families living in the informal camps in the countryside of Suran, northern Syria, we met a young boy named Ahmed whose story reflects the hardship faced by countless children growing up in displacement.

Ahmed lives with his mother, his sister, and his uncle in a single tent. His father left years ago to look for work in Aleppo, but he never returned, and the family has not heard from him since. His absence has left Ahmed’s mother carrying the responsibility of caring for her children under extremely difficult circumstances.

The family struggles to secure even the most basic necessities, particularly food and clean water. Ahmed’s mother and uncle work in agriculture whenever work is available, doing everything they can to provide for the family. But agricultural work is seasonal and uncertain, leaving them with very little security from one day to the next.

Yet, when we met Ahmed, what stood out was not the hardship surrounding him, but the hope in his eyes.

Despite everything he has experienced, Ahmed remains a cheerful child. He loves learning, dreams of a better future, and hopes to become a doctor one day so he can help others. His dream is simple, but for a child growing up in a tent amid displacement and uncertainty, holding on to such a dream is an extraordinary act of hope.

Through your generosity, we were able to provide bread for Ahmed and his family, helping ease one of the burdens they face each day. For a family struggling to meet its basic needs, a loaf of bread is more than food—it is a moment of relief, dignity, and reassurance.

Ahmed’s story is not only about hardship. It is also about resilience, dreams, and the power of compassion.

Your support helps ensure that children like Ahmed can continue to dream, despite the circumstances they were born into. By standing beside vulnerable families, you give them more than essential food—you remind them that they have not been forgotten.

Thank you for being part of this effort and for helping us bring hope and dignity to families who need it most.

With deep gratitude for your continued kindness and support.
