Sponsor Environmental Education of Kids in Brazil

In recent years, there has been a significant population increase in our location, which has directly impacted consumption and the production of waste and garbage. Understanding the importance of strengthening and expanding environmental awareness and effective preservation care, we carried out research in our community to identify family actions to care for water and waste and the understanding about the geographic importance of the region and the need to intensify care for the environment. Based on the identified reality, we propose actions aimed at understanding the impacts of waste on nature, with visits to the municipal landfill and organizations that treat waste for recycling, as well as building some compost bins at school together with the children and teachers training about this topic.
We also spoke with the wider community during the fair, on a Sunday where we organized an event with 6th and 7th year students in which they could express their musical talents while at the same time drawing attention to the problems caused by waste that is not routed correctly.
We also continue with planting and environmental care actions, which are part of our daily lives.
We currently have 92 students at our school, aged 4 to 14, with a team of 19 educators. Families contribute financially according to their means and also support the organization, food and cleaning of the school. The resources we received from GlobalGiving support the payment of teachers’ salaries. We continue to build an emancipatory education, guaranteeing students the knowledge and practices necessary for conscious, responsible and ecological action in the world!
