In Ethiopia's conflict-affected regions, millions of children have lost years of learning and face hunger, trauma, and the threat of exploitation. Without urgent action, this lost generation will face lifelong barriers to education, safety, and livelihoods. Through Brighter Futures, FUGAO will combine education, protection, and skills-building to restore hope and opportunity for 10,000 displaced children and youth. By creating safe learning environments and feeding programs.
Over 3 million Ethiopian children are out of school due to conflict and displacement. Displaced children face high risks of child labor, early marriage, and exploitation. Hunger and trauma undermine learning and development Every year out of school increases the risk of lifelong poverty. high crises and poverty increase cycles of violence and instability.
Our Solution This 4-year project will: Provide education and protection to 10,000 children in crisis zones. Build or restore 50 classrooms and 80 safe spaces. Train 3,000 youth in job-ready skills and connect them to work. Deliver nutrition and mental health support to displaced learners.
Expected Long-Term Impact by 2030 10,000 displaced children return to safe, quality education. 50 classrooms and 80 safe spaces improve learning conditions. 3,000 youth gain marketable skills and sustainable livelihoods. 8,000 children receive daily school meals, improving attendance. 5,000 children recover from trauma through counseling and support.
