Last year in the month of Oct. 2013 CSA made a mark to create awareness about hand washing by showing them Presentation for the reasons to wash hands, time when they need to wash their hands and the effects of clean hands. After the presentation CSA representative took them to wash place to do the practices of hand washing with the steps and this was a well received awareness program.
This year too CSA decided to grab the opportunity of Global hand washing day and made a behavior change intervention in the life of 1800+ orphan children across 30 + orphanages in four different states (Maharashtra, Goa, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh). We improved the health and hygiene of these 1800+ children by inculcating hand washing with soap practice among them. The message this time was passed on to the children by older children to younger ones. Older children took the initiative to prepare a skit on hand washing awareness under CSA representatives mentoring and presented it for the younger ones. Each older child took the responsibility of the younger ones to wash their hands with the steps they learned.
Children from different CSA locations participated in the Global Hand Washing Day celebrations. Personal hygiene kit containing soap, tooth paste, tooth brush is given to the children through CSA.
Thus we assured that they understand and follow the massage and idea of celebrating Global hand washing day and keep themselves healthy.
