We gathered in Jerusalem for our annual Interfaith Iftar, bringing together people from diverse religious, cultural, and communal backgrounds to share an evening of reflection, hospitality, and connection. Sixty participants joined us at the historic Old Shaarei Tsedek building, an impressive landmark in the heart of the city.
Throughout the evening we enjoyed the music of Muhammad playing the Oud.
The evening opened with welcoming remarks from IEA’s director, Dr. Yehuda Stolov, who spoke about the importance of creating spaces where people from different communities can meet as neighbors and partners. This was followed by reflections on the meaning of Ramadan and a prayer offered by Ms. Nahed Sakis, who shared insights into the spiritual significance of the holy month.
At sunset, participants broke the fast together with water and dates, observing a tradition shared by Muslims around the world. The meal that followed featured a delicious makluba prepared by a unique restaurant in the village of Ein Rafa that is certified as both kosher and halal, reflecting the spirit of inclusion and mutual respect that characterized the evening.
Beyond the meal itself, the gathering provided an opportunity for meaningful conversations, renewed friendships, and new connections across lines of faith and identity. In a warm and welcoming atmosphere, participants shared stories, learned from one another, and celebrated the values of compassion, hospitality, and human dignity that unite us all.
