Cervical and Breast cancers are most common type of cancers in India among women. There are many women in need of screening and treatment in slums of srikalahasti. The reasons are lack of education and poor condition. This results in many women not knowing about the risk factors of cancers, or the importance of getting screened. They have several misconceptions about cancers. Implementing this program in slums of Srikalahasti municipality, a drought pone, backward area in chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh state,India.
STEPS organize talks, awareness camps and training that explain the risk factors of cancers, the disease progression, treatment, and the importance of screening. During these camps, the women were explained about Cancer disease symptoms and self examination of breast to find out the symptoms of cancer.
The women in the picture aged 60 years one of the beneficiaries shared with our team and says “I am truly grateful to STEPS for creating awareness about cancers to us. Now I will tell other women about cancers and motivate other them for screening of cancers”.
