A comprehensive analysis of participants in the program’s cultural workshops, examining demographic, educational, economic, and socioeconomic characteristics of the population served. This assessment helps identify the community’s specific needs and informs more effective strategies for social inclusion and cultural development. The socioeconomic profile was evaluated using a representative sample, excluding the guitar and Zumba workshops from this analysis.
The majority of participants (59.1%) live on up to one minimum wage, while 31.3% earn between one and two minimum wages, underscoring the low-income profile that characterizes the population served. Overall, more than 90% of families subsist on up to two minimum wages, highlighting the concentration of income in the lowest brackets and the critical role of the program as a vehicle for social inclusion and access to culture.
Across all workshops, participants predominantly fall within the lowest income range, with some variation between daytime and evening sessions that reflects the specific characteristics of each group. Notably, 5.6% of participants are in institutional care, demonstrating that the program effectively reaches communities facing extreme social vulnerability and plays a fundamental role in safeguarding cultural rights.
This widespread economic vulnerability further reinforces the importance of free public cultural policies as instruments for social development and inequality reduction.
