Connecting from a Distance: Women in Brandon and southwestern Manitoba
The Women’s Resource Centre (TWRC) provides programs, services, and counselling on issues affecting women and children, including family violence while encouraging respect, diversity and equality with a feminist perspective. TWRC is an organization dedicated to providing support and mentoring for all women and their families.
Due to the COVID19 pandemic has caused a exacerbate impact of violence, poverty, and substance use in Brandon and southwestern Manitoba. The number of families in the rural and urban communities are in much need of assistance due to pandemic factors, which now has caused a waiting list for counselling services.
The Women's Resource Centre (TWRC) aims to evolve programming and drop-in centre space to adequately meet the needs of women and children in Brandon and southwestern Manitoba.
TWRC needs the financial help to provide their much needed services while respecting social distancing rules and group gatherings limits in a way that will promote overall well-being, family enrichment activities, and social-emotional connections that have been negatively impacted by quarantine/isolation measures.
With the support from the Brandon Area Community Foundation, The Women's Resource Centre has been able to continue to provide the women with education and counselling on domestic violence in Brandon and southwestern Manitoba.
