International Music Camp receives $14,000 Grant
Founded in 1956, The International Music Camp (IMC) offers a wide array of cultural study for students and adults. In weekly sessions, students of all ages gain concentrated knowledge in their particular area of interest. All ages and nationalities study at IMC. Adults and students
While the camp name speaks of its foundation in Music, IMC also offers one-week summer camp programs in Dance, Creative Writing, Painting, Drawing, Theatre, and several other Fine Arts disciplines. A staff of artist-teachers, internationally noted guest conductors, and outstanding clinicians from the United States and Canada provide instruction to students from 84 countries.
Over the decades since the camp’s construction, the ground beneath the buildings has shifted, causing the weight distribution and stability of each structure to change. The exterior and interior of the buildings have started to show the stress of these shifts as siding, water pipes, flooring, and paneling are separating, straining, cracking. Over 2,000 campers, 180 teaching faculty, and 60 support staff throughout the summer use these teaching spaces and living spaces.
The Brandon Area Community Foundation granted $14,000 toward the much-needed repair of these instructional buildings.
