The Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Charles County provides many valuable programs. High on the list of programs available to the children are the educational programs, which are extremely important to the success of the children we serve.
Power Hour provides students after-school homework assistance, helping positive outcomes for youth in the area of academic success by extending learning beyond the school day. It offers a structured time and place for Club staff and volunteers to help members complete their homework. When a child has completed their homework, they start each school day better prepared with a sense of confidence and competence.
STEAM programs helps drive academic success for youth in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math fields, and uniquely positions them to make a difference in the future workforce. Each lesson aims to promote engagement in the sciences and close the science achievement gap that exist among area youth. In the STEAM programs, participants complete hands-on experiments, activities and multi-stage projects alongside staff and mentors, covering topics and activities across multiple learning fields.
Summer learning losses can stack up from year to year, causing low-income children to fall further and further behind, ultimately endangering their chances of high school graduation. Each summer, the Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Charles County provides programs that combats learning loss by continuing the essential academic classes.
An empowered and educated child becomes an emerging leader, ready to continue developing their skills, to one day serve their community in a growing capacity.
