A goal of the Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Charles County has not changed over the years. The Club desires that all members will realize academic success, remain in school, complete their education and become a gainfully employeed adult. Twenty-eight percent of the Club's members come from a single parent household and it is harder for the parent or guardian to sometimes provide adequate time to assist with homework. The Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Charles County provides a number of educational classes that operate daily during the After School Program. Members are provided homework assistance by the Club's professional staff or qualified volunteers to assure the student that he or she will be ready to participate in the classroom the next day. We all know that if a child is unprepared for the classroom activities they will not become engaged in the learning process. An unprepared student will sometimes become disruptive causing distraction for the other students as well as the instructors.
A student prepared for their day at school will perform better, grow in knowledge, become eager to learn and have more self-esteem. A child doing well in the classroom does not consider dropping out of school, they look forward to a bright future.
