By Heather Cameron - Founder, Boxgirls and Girls in the Lead
Thanks for your interest and support of Boxgirls South Africa over the years. After working in Khayelitsha and Atlantis since 2009 we have decided to change our model and work further with partners and digitally to help girls’ strengthen their communities. We are no longer delivering services directly but working with community actors like VPUU to share our approaches to help prove again our slogan: Strong Girls. Safe communities.
We are happy then to announce that as we change BGSA operations in South Africa that our know how and materials have been flowing into a new platformwww.girlsinthelead.org. Through Girls in the Lead and support from the Postcode foundation and others, we will share learnings for better sport programs from our Boxgirls’ work, but also many others in the sports for social change arena. Thank you very much to all of our impassioned community leaders, parents and girls! It has been wonderful to work with you and I look forward to taking us into the digital space.
With Covid we are seeing how important it is for grassroots organizations to learn how to use technology well to reach their community empowerment and development goals. We look forward to contributing to this through girls in the lead. Join us!
