Without access to life saving preventative care, mothers with HIV have a 90% chance of transmitting HIV to her newborn through their breast milk, and a 10% chance during childbirth. Therefore, it is vital to provide and encourage increased access to HIV treatment during and after childbirth: ensuring the best possible chance of preventing any transmission.
Born Free of HIV was a program created to provide access to preventative treatment for women during and after their pregnancy, and our success rate is incredible. Every woman who underwent our program regimen had a child who started their lives HIV negative, a feat we wish to continue with your support.
Our Born Free of HIV program is able to expand to provide care for more mothers because of donations from our incredible supporters. With a donation of just $25, you would be providing 5 women with the opportunity to get tested. This initiative tests more than 3,000 women a year, and is hoping to continue to expand this number to reach even more members of the Bamako community and beyond. With a donation of $50, you would be supporting every single aspect of a mother’s laboratory tests during her pre-natal period- this includes an ultrasound! Your donations are what help our program function, and expand our reach to provide important care to more women in Mali. Thank you!
