RITUAL TO RETURN TO MY BODY

By Myriam Perez | Projecto Leader

Salomé escribe después de su acompañamiento terapéutico:

RITUAL TO RETURN TO MY BODY

By: Salomé Carvajal Ruiz (Manabí)

"There are moments like this when luck crosses my path."

I reconnect with myself, and then I can trace a spiral line that records my heartbeat and my cycles.

I enter into an intimate intersubjectivity; I realize that I was never alone. All those memories that—once

turned into mortal remains—have composted my body, transforming it into sacred territory. I feel...

From this place, I open my eyes. Colors gradually return to paint everything: the nuances and the chiaroscuro of my body.My embodiment is shaped by the loving and the historical, by the personal and the political. I realize that ifI have made it this far because I was never alone.

"They" were always there, from my birth to this very moment. It was always a woman whose voice resonated from the depths of the abyss, calling my name.

A friend, a sister, a soulmate, a companion, a beloved, a witch, a healer, a therapist... one and many who, amidst the storm, reached out their hands in solidarity. I embrace them...T

he final incantation arrives. I return to my body, healing my wounds. At stake is always the possibility of dissolving toxic love—and the implicit heteropatriarchal promise of total surrender.

I am referring to the kind of love agreed upon to convince us that the “other body” is private property, and that if love exists, it manifests just as we love the thing that wounded us the very first time: that is, with full force, with selfishness, with violence. Requiem...I recognize myself; it is I who still bleeds. I reclaim my body. Honor to the offering."
