First of all, thanks to the donators that have already given contribution to FTPI through Global Giving, so that one boat which a lot of children wished for to improve their studying quality, could come true.

One boat has been delivered by FTPI, represented by Muslikhin Kusma, to Alafan Utama Junior High School, which is located in Alafan, Simeulue Regency- Aceh- Indonesia. Alafan is a district in Simeulue that has not got any electricity and any land transportation, because there is no road in this coastal area, even for bikes.

Being handed over, the boat is expected to give much benefit for the children and their teachers. At least, they can enrich the school activity by visiting nearby towns to get some books and other equipment. In addition, the children will get much broader knowledge about other places, not only their own quiet home village.

Alafan was a district who had severe impact of tsunami. There were not any houses or school buildings that could be saved. However, nobody died due to this tsunami. It was because Alafan society taught the experience of facing tsunami by telling stories to their next generation.

According to the plan, the three-ton-boat will be directly used for children learning activities together with people of the community in social activities. A letter to extend gratitude, signed by the headmaster and Education Service of Simeulue Regency, will be sent to Global Giving in November 2007.

There is still another boat that has not finished yet and it still needs more fund from donator. Besides, there are still some needs in purchasing buoy/floats for boat passengers, including schoolchildren and teachers.
