Dear Donor,
First of all, I want to acknowledge and thank you for your care for women's most basic needs. It may seem unimportant to some, but you are an exception. We know how grateful the women and girls are who receive this gift of care. You understand how monumental it can be to a girl in school, who may choose not to go to school and quit because she is unable to afford pads. Worst case women and girls use rags that must be washed and dried in private. In rainy seasons, cloth may be dried under beds and still damp with bacteria. The unsanitary conditions lead to infections, etc.
This report comes at a time when I saw a documentary on the courage of women. It was upsetting to see what women go through during wartime or in cultures that don't allow girls the option to be educated and where the women are imprisoned or trafficked. How dreadful it is to be born where there are no options. The girls who receive pads are often from intergenerational prostitution families but are now provided with an education. Baby steps are often the most important for women to feel cared for and supported.
Women or girls make money making biodegradable pads from agricultural waste and everyone wins.
Again, we all thank you for your support.
