The Big Change team is proud to present our latest news!
Most students come to Big Change as young adults after having grown too old for the orphanage. Some are unable to read, almost all are unable to focus and study. Many haven’t even taken their 9th grade exams yet, because they were labeled as “unable to be educated” and sent to sub-standard orphanage schools.
The entire months of July and August we’ve been getting the information about the results of the final and entrance exams taken by our students. During the summer break we’ve conducted a week-long biology camp and an educational trip around Russia for the participants of our projects and programs.
In August-September there is an initial evaluation and the placement of students for the upcoming school year. This stage is very important and we dedicate a great deal of attention to individual consultations with foster parents. 6 such foster parents will be able to receive such individualized attention from our specialists and 9 children foster families will receive a continual educational assistance during an entire academic year. The students who were in school the previous year, more than 60 pupils, will begin their studies on September 8.
Big Change has the staff, the tutors and the mentors to enroll up to 60 students, which will put the class size at 1-3 students each. Every student has a mentor and an individualized plan to help him/her realize their dreams. If we receive the necessary funding, the cost during the entire school year is $300 per month per student. We still need the money to realize all of our plans, so please, do not hesitate to donate or share the information about us with your friends and colleagues. Wethankyouforyourtrustandsupport!
