Hello Persian Fallow Deer Supporters!
We are delighted to share some encouraging news.
In May 2026, we successfully released nine Persian fallow deer - two females and seven males, aged one to two years - into the Nahal Dolev Nature Reserve near Jerusalem. This was a hard release, meaning the deer were released directly into the wild without first spending time in an acclimatization enclosure.
The wild population in the reserve is now estimated to number approximately 110 individuals, and we are hopeful that these new arrivals will help strengthen this growing herd. We are grateful that the release was made possible during the ceasefire that was in effect at the time, allowing this important conservation milestone to go ahead safely.
