On a lovely sunny morning, this week, we released five deer from the Zoo's breeding core in to the wild. The group was made up of two females and three males and they were released in the Soreq Nature Reserve in the Jerusalem hills.
Unlike previous releases, this time, the deer were released directly and not to the fenced adaption area. They were released wearing GPS collars so we can track their movements and see how this new release method works and if it is successful.
This will be the last release in this area, as there are already 150 deer in the Reserve.
We are looking for a new area for the upcoming releases, this expansion testifying to the amazing success of this conservation project.
