The New Year of 2017 was welcomed and celebrated with the regal Sports festival of Bhumi’s Nakshatra, the inter-children’s home talent fest, in Chennai and Bangalore. Without one such event, the children of these shelter homes would not find a platform to come out to the public and confidently display their talent, sportsmanship, teamwork and most importantly the joy of a healthy, active life.
The various categories of events that were held include track& field events, team events like football, volleyball etc. Furthermore, indoor events like chess and carom were conducted. The competitions were held for boys and girls, and for various age groups separately. One could never look away from the distinct display of talent by the assorted children of various age groups.
In Bangalore, the event was held on Jan 29; a total of 585 Children from 23 different homes participated in the joyous Sports meet. The toughest part was for the judges to decide on the ‘Overall Trophy of Excellence’, which was bagged by BGMS Shishukung Vidyalaya. It is only by the relentless efforts of 104 volunteers of Bhumi that this event became a grand success and a memorable one. The kids were re-charged with healthy food and refreshments of highest standards.
