Nakshatra is Bhumi’s national inter-children’s home talent fest of sports, art, literary and cultural events.
This year Bhumi's team of volunteers in Chennai tried something new in an attempt to reach more children and to motivate children and hone their talents further. We conducted five separate events for five geographic zones followed by a final event for the winners.
Nakshatra 2015-16 was a great success and received an overwhelming response from the participating schools. Children all over Chennai participated enthusiastically and zealously, making Nakshatra a grand event. Children, both boys and girls, participated in three categories – Juniors, Seniors, Super Seniors.
1,538 children from 58 shelter homes particpated in the five zonal events between July to October. The top three winners from each competition - 509 children from 57 shelter homes then competed in the grand finale on November 27, 2016.
The participants gave enthralling performances and competed energetically with each other in an amalgamation of cultural events like pot painting, clay modelling, fabric art, group dance, mimicry, medley song, quiz, elocution, debate etc.
