Empowering the Underprivileged Children

By Vaishnavi Srinivasan | Executive Director

Education in India for underprivileged children is greatly impacted by numerous challenges. These children, often living in poverty-stricken conditions, face daunting obstacles that hinder their educational journey. The burden of financial constraints compels many to engage in child labor instead of attending school, perpetuating a cycle of deprivation. Moreover, the lack of proper infrastructure, including classrooms, libraries, and sanitation facilities, further limits their educational prospects. These circumstances lead to a significant achievement gap, denying them the chance to develop essential skills and knowledge.

Your donations to Bhumi have been instrumental in helping us bridge the educational gaps for underprivileged children in India. Through learning centers, dedicated volunteer teachers, innovative programs, and infrastructure initiatives, Bhumi ensures inclusive and high-quality education. With effective resource allocation, Bhumi makes a significant impact, offering a brighter future through education. Here are a few numbers to celebrate:

  • It’s because of your generosity, that Bhumi was able to benefit over 67,939 children and youth in the last year. We expanded our reach to 279 Shelter Homes, 104 Schools, 17 Communities, and 46 Colleges.
  • In the previous quarter, Bhumi's Skill-Ed program trained over 2,467 young people between the ages of 18-27 in digital skills and soft skills to make them job-ready.
  • Between January-March, a total of 28,711 children benefited from the Bhumi STP, Eco-Champs, and Young Scientists programs, where the main goal is to focus on the holistic development of school children of grades 3 to 12 through experiential learning. The Interventions cover STEM Education, environment awareness and protection, exam readiness,& career counseling and guidance.

Bhumi's efforts have significantly impacted disadvantaged children's education in India, and we are determined to continue our work. We look forward to the community's continuing support in providing equitable educational opportunities for students from underserved communities.
